Part of a centuries-old Benedictine tradition of nurturing the arts and learning, Abbey Church Events is an annual concert and lecture series founded by the Abbot and monks of Saint Martin’s Abbey in 1980. To date, Abbey Church Events has presented more than one hundred and fifty scholarly lectures and classical music concerts by some of the most luminous scholars and artists of our day. Some of our Abbey Church Events artists also do community outreach and master classes.
Though Abbey Church Events lectures and concerts are offered to the public free of charge, a freewill offering in support of the series is suggested. The series is underwritten by the interest on a small endowment established by the Benedictine monks of Saint Martin’s Abbey, by freewill offerings, bequests, and occasional grants.
